چکیده
Fig. 1.-Craniopharyngioma in a 10-year-old boy. B old . Because of enlargement of the tumor, the patient had undergone multiple radiation treatments and repeated punctures of the cyst via craniotomy burr holes; the aspirated material contained cholesterol. Follow-up included routine CT scans every 6 months, which had not changed for the past 2 years. Approximately 9 months before admission, a routine CT without contrast enhancement (Fig . 1A) showed a new well-defined mass with minimal edema and calcification in the right frontal lobe. No significant change was seen in the contrastenhanced CT. This mass had a slightly higher density than the

Epilepsy surgery in bifrontal injury from prior craniopharyngioma resections☆☆☆
Epilepsy surgery in frontal lobe epilepsy (FLE) has less favorable seizure-free outcomes than temporal lobe epilepsies. Possible contributing factors include fast propagation patterns and large clinically silent areas which are characteristics of the frontal lobes. Bilateral frontal lobe abnormalities on MRI are another relative contraindication to epilepsy surgery. For example, bilateral encep...
متن کاملPossible mechanism of secondary narcolepsy with a long sleep time following surgery for craniopharyngioma.
A 19-year-old woman suffered from severe excessive daytime sleepiness accompanied with long sleep episodes both in the daytime and nighttime and frequent episodes of cataplexy shortly after the removal of craniopharyngioma in the intrasellar space. Multiple sleep latency test showed a typical finding of narcolepsy, and cerebrospinal fluid orexin concentration was below the narcolepsy cut-off va...
متن کاملPost-operative implantation metastasis of craniopharyngioma: a case report.
Craniopharyngiomas are histologically benign epithelial tumours arising from squamous epithelial remnants of Rathke's pouch, which have a tendency to invade surrounding structures and recur after apparently complete resection. They represent the most frequent non-glial tumour in children, accounting for approximately 5% of paediatric brain neoplasms. Total resection of a craniopharyngioma may b...
متن کاملMetastatic craniopharyngioma.
We report a unique case of metastatic craniopharyngioma. Initially, the patient had a right frontal craniotomy for resection of a suprasellar mass, which was determined to be an adamantinomatous craniopharyngioma. Seven years later, an MR study of the brain showed two peripheral enhancing lesions adjacent to the dura and contralateral to the craniotomy site. Pathologic examination again showed ...
